If a tooth is missing from the mouth, it can be very difficult to communicate, speak, bite, or eat.  If you have a tooth missing, a trip to your dentist is wise to discuss the dental options for replacement.  A dental bridge can be used to replace missing teeth and provide a bridge that connects the adjoining teeth.  The teeth that are located on either side of the missing tooth are called abutment teeth. #smilewithconfidence  The replacement tooth is called a pontic. Queen Creek AZ Dental Implants

A dental bridge can restore your smile and keep the face shape as it should be.  It also can help you chew food, speak, and keep the jaws together when biting.  This will prevent the other teeth in the mouth from moving.

There are several types of dental bridges to chose from, but these three are the most common types:

  1.  Traditional Bridge:  Most popular one used in dentistry and is made from ceramics or porcelain fused to metal.  A dental crown will be made for the teeth on either side of the missing tooth, and the fake tooth will be placed in between them.  Queen Creek AZ Dental Implants
  2.  Cantilever Bridge:  This type of bridge is used when a person doesn’t have two teeth on either side of the missing tooth.  The abutment teeth adjacent to one another are then prepped and the fake (pontic) tooth is attached to the end of it. #martindental
  3.  Maryland Bridge:  Made from a metal framework, the false tooth is attached to the metal or porcelain wings that are cemented to the two abutment teeth.  This type of bridge is a more conservative approach to a traditional bridge. Queen Creek AZ Dental Implants
